We go the extra mile to help our consumers maintain independence and improve their overall health and well-being. This includes ensuring that every consumer is matched with the caregiver that’s right for them. - compassion
Everyone needs support—whether it’s just a helping hand around the house, or daily assistance with basic tasks like walking and eating. No matter what your circumstances, Christian Home Healthcare is here to help. - communication
Open, honest communication is essential to what we do. Our staff listens to consumers and their loved ones; they ask questions to learn more about individuals’ needs; and they consistently follow up to ensure we are providing the best possible in-home care.
India Christian
CEO & President
India Christian is the president and CEO of Christian Home Healthcare. After graduating high school in Pittsburgh, she enrolled at Edinboro University to begin working toward a career in medicine. But when India’s grandmother fell ill, she returned to Pittsburgh to be closer to family and help with caregiving. She continued her education at the University of Pittsburgh, ultimately earning her bachelor’s degree in Biology. India then went on to get her master’s degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a post-master’s certification in secondary education administration from Duquesne University.
India began her career as a chemistry and biology teacher for Pittsburgh Public Schools. She spent 8 years as a dedicated educator within the district, teaching chemistry and biology as well as serving as the math and science curriculum coach.
In 2003, while still working at Pittsburgh Public Schools, India followed a lifelong desire to start her own business and opened Myles Maids and Personal Care. It was a cleaning service for older adults who met the state’s Medicaid waiver requirements—a program that was still in its infancy. The cleaning business evolved into a personal care service that was later renamed Christian Home Healthcare.
India retired from Pittsburgh Public Schools in 2008 to focus solely on advancing her company. Christian Home Healthcare has been growing and evolving ever since. But the organization’s goal hasn’t changed: Help people get the care they need in the place they call home.
Since its founding, Christian Home Healthcare has been recognized with the “Talk of the Town” award for excellence in customer satisfaction; named one of INC’s 5,000 fastest growing companies; and voted a “Great Place to Work” by the Pittsburgh Business Times in 2019.
India herself has been honored for excellence in leadership and for her extraordinary service to the community, recently receiving an achievement award by the Women Presidents’ Organization and 100 Black Men of Western PA.
Throughout her career, India has been driven by “an innate desire to rid people of extrinsic and intrinsic oppressive barriers.” Today, that driving force is stronger than ever, leading India to earn her doctorate degree in Community Engagement from Point Park University. In particular, India is studying how access to socially inclusive recreational spaces shapes working-age adults’ lived experiences with long-term different abilities. She also intends to investigate how policy affects individuals’ access to such spaces.
India lives in East Pittsburgh with her husband. Together they have four children and four grandchildren. In addition to spending time with family, she is an avid reader and enjoys cooking, entertaining, and event planning.
